I love writing and started this blog in May 2016 as a creative outlet. As well as blogging articles, I spend my time writing novels and making up short stories and poems. My writing has featured on websites such as FarNorth.scot, and my poem ‘Secrets of a Dog Lover’ was published by the Scottish Book Trust in their 2016 Book Week publication Secrets and Confessions. In 2020 my short story ‘The Book Fair’ was awarded runner-up position in Best magazine’s summer fiction competition. My articles and poems have also featured in publications such as West Word and Northwords Now.
I am a regular contributor to the Thurso Community Magazine, and have made several appearances on BBC Radio Scotland. I have also appeared on BBC Breakfast News, Radio 4 and BBC News…5 Minutes On discussing the impact of the North Coast 500 on the far north.
My first novel, Castles of Steel and Thunder, a young adult fantasy based on the folklore of Caithness, was published in November 2020. You can buy the book here, and read lots more about it on the blog.
